Will my insurance cover LASIK or the

new upgraded intraocular lenses?

Insurance coverage varies greatly from policy to policy. Generally speaking insurance companies consider LASIK an elective surgery and do not provide coverage. For the Refractive Lens Exchange, commercial insurance carriers may cover the cataract surgical procedure and anesthesia and the standard lens implant. Patients are then responsible for the upgrade fees only. Some patients are completely responsible for payment. We will be happy to look into your specific coverage for you. Our surgical team will go over your benefits and the cost with you before scheduling your procedure. At any time, our staff is available for questions. It may also be beneficial for you to contact your insurance carrier.
