Cartersville, Georgia where she grew up playing basketball and volleyball. After graduating from Valdosta State University she joined the United States Peace Corps and served in Ukraine from 2011-2014 focusing on teaching English and youth development. Dr. Henderson was teaching English every day for 2nd-9th graders as well as coordinating GLOW/TOBE gender empowerment camps (Girls Leading Our World & Teaching Our Boys Excellence), directing PEPFAR HIV seminars, and writing grants for her community. Here is where she was inspired to become an optometrist after noticing some of her students falling behind in school due to poor vision that could have easily been restored with a pair of glasses. When Dr. Henderson returned to the U.S. she attended Kennesaw State University to gain the courses required to attend optometry school. She was awarded a Georgia state-sponsored scholarship and attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Her 4th year externships were focused on primary care and ocular disease.

Dr. Henderson is looking forward to exploring Washington and getting to know her neighbors and patients!
